Sweetcorn ‘Mirai Gold’ is a super-sweet variety known for its exceptional flavour and uniform cobs. The golden-yellow cobs grow up to 20cm long and are perfect for boiling, grilling, or eating straight from the garden.

  1. Sow indoors from April–May, 2-3 seeds per pot, 5cm deep.
  2. Keep at 18-20c and germination will occur in 7-10 days.
  3. Alternatively, sow directly outdoors in late May or early June once the soil has warmed.
  4. Harden off indoor-grown plants before transplanting.
  5. Plant sweetcorn in blocks rather than rows (for better wind pollination), spacing plants 40cm apart.
  6. Choose a sunny, sheltered position.
  7. Water regularly, especially during dry spells and when tassels and cobs are forming.
  8. Feed every 2-3 weeks once the cobs begin to develop.
  9. Earth up soil around the base of the stems to improve stability.
  10. Harvest when the silks turn brown.
