- Sow indoors from April–May, 2-3 seeds per pot, 5cm deep.
- Keep at 18-20c and germination will occur in 7-10 days.
- Alternatively, sow directly outdoors in late May or early June once the soil has warmed.
- Harden off indoor-grown plants before transplanting.
- Plant sweetcorn in blocks rather than rows (for better wind pollination), spacing plants 40cm apart.
- Choose a sunny, sheltered position.
- Water regularly, especially during dry spells and when tassels and cobs are forming.
- Feed every 2-3 weeks once the cobs begin to develop.
- Earth up soil around the base of the stems to improve stability.
- Harvest when the silks turn brown.
