- Sow seeds from mid-February-April in modules or trays undercover.
- Soak seeds for 8-12 hours before sowing.
- Sow 1-2 cm deep in moist seed compost and lightly cover.
- Keep soil consistently moist and at a temperature of 18-20c.
- Avoid sowing on windowsills due to the cold air dropping off windows at night.
- The seeds should germinate in 14-21 days.
- Pot on seedlings once large enough to handle, maintaining bright, sheltered conditions.
- Transplant outdoors from May to June in a sunny, well-drained position.
- Harvest from the third year, between May and June, taking only the thick, tender shoots.
- Mulch in Autumn to protect the plants.
