Squash Autumn Crown F1
Autumn Crown F1 produces an abundance of attractive early maturing butternut-coloured scalloped fruits each weighing around 2 kg. The long- storing fruits have a unique ?sweet melon? aroma when cut and the flesh is a deep orange with a small seed cavity.
Cultivation advice Squash Autumn Crown F1
- Sow seeds Mar ? May under cover with warmth provided. The seeds may rot with insufficient temperature provided.
- Best sown in individual pots 1 inch deep in well drained good quality seed type compost.
- Germination 7-14 days @ 18-22 C. Lower temperatures may cause failed germination.
- Once germinated grow on in cooler conditions under cover.
- After all danger of frost has passed (usually Mid May onwards), acclimatise young plants before planting out.
- Best planted in soil heavily enriched with organic matter.
- These plants need space to thrive, overcrowding may lead to poorer harvests.
- Ready to harvest late autumn as foliage starts to die back and skins have hardened.
