- Start the seeds indoors from February-May.
- Soak the seeds in warm water for 12-24 hours before sowing to aid germination.
- Sow the seeds on the surface of moist, well-drained seed compost and cover lightly.
- Keep at a temperature of 20-21c until germination occurs.
- Seeds will usually germinate within 7-14 days.
- Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots.
- Grow on in bright, warm conditions.
- Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
- Plant out after the risk of frost has passed into their final growing position.
- Provide supports such as trellis, netting, or canes for the climbing stems.
- Water regularly during dry spells until established.
- Remove spent flowers if desired, as it will self-seed readily.
