A popular, attractive and easy to grow native bi-annual woodland plant producing 6ft spikes of bell flowers, spotted inside, over a range of colours and shades in their second year which are extremely attractive to insects. Best suited to a shady spot, but will thrive in most soils. Freely self-seeding year after year. Stunning at the back of a border or in any shady corner.

Digitalis Purpurea Foxglove Mixed Colours – Growing Instructions

  1. Start the seeds indoors between March-May.
  2. Sow the seeds on the surface of moist compost, do not cover as light aids germination.
  3. Place in a bright location at a temperature of 12-20c.
  4. Alternatively, sow directly outside between May-June or September-October.
  5. The seeds will germinate in 7-21 days.
  6. Once the seedlings are 5-7cm, transplant into individual pots.
  7. Gradually acclimatise the plants to cooler conditions.
  8. Plant out once the risk of frost has passed.

CAUTION: All parts of this plant are poisonous if ingested.
