Datura Metel – Double Yellow
Effectively an annual in the UK climate this stunning specimen plant will quickly reach 4-6 ft in a single season producing stunning huge double yellow flowers with a powerful lily like fragrance and given a warm autumn circular warty fruits. Thrives in a sheltered position with heat and is drought tolerant.
Please note that seeds and all parts of the plant for all Datura species are poisonous / extremely toxic. Please handle the seeds and subsequently all parts of the plant with care and always wash hands after contact.
Cultivation advice Datura Metel – Double Yellow
- Sow sparingly in pots under cover with warmth provided 12-18 c FROM LATE Feb onwards
- Soak seed for 24 hrs prior to sowing as seed casing are very tough.
- Germination can be slow 21-42 days.
- Once germinated thin as required and grow on.
- Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed.
- Note the variety will freely self-seed if spent flowers are not removed.
