VERBASCUM PHOENICEUM MIXEDÂ
A delightful perennial and addition to any border producing elegant spires of eye-catching flowers in a broad range of colours through white, apricot, carmine through to deep claret. A true hardy perennial it will also flower in its first year from an early sowing.
Cultivation Advice VERBASCUM PHOENICEUM MIXEDÂ
- Can be sown early spring or late summer.
- Seedlings sown in Jan usually flower the first year, any later and they will flower the following year.
- Sow 6-8 weeks before the last frost in your area.
- The plants do develop deep tap roots thus a deep pot or root trainers are ideal.
- Sow finely on the surface and cover very lightly with fine seed grade compost. Place in a clear plastic bag or cover with a piece of glass to maintain humidity.
- Place out of direct sunlight at 15-18c to germinate.
- Germination 7 to 21 days.
- Transplant to pots when large enough to handle and grow on in cool conditions.
- Plant out in full sun 30-45cm apart in well-drained soil after all danger of frost has passed.
- Heavy / waterlogged soil will endanger the plant successfully over-wintering.
- Benefits from a covering of mulch over-winter.
