Maris Piper is a maincrop variety which is grown for their light and fluffy texture. It is one of the best all rounder potatoes and is high yielding with a cream coloured flesdh.
Cultivation advice Seed Potato – Maris Piper
- After receiving the potatoes, lay the out into shallow boxes or trays and store in a cool area away from frost.
- Two weeks before you plant your potatoes, move them into a light area which is around 10 degrees Celsius so that a strong sprout is produced. The potatoes can turn green when exposed to light but this is normal.
- Plant the seed potatoes in drills that are around 70cm apart in each row. The potatoes should be planted 30-35cm apart from each other.
- Make sure the eyes are facing upwards and planted at a depth of 10-15cm.
- Ideal soil conditions for potatoes are sandy loam soils.
