Seed Potato – Foxton
Foxton is a highly versatile maincrop potato that is perfectly suited to boiling, baking, and roasting. This variety produces high yields of uniform, oval shaped potatoes which are red skinned and have a contrasting lemon flesh which has a great taste. Foxton is extremely resistant to dry rot and tuber blight.
Cultivation advice Seed Potato – Foxton
- After receiving the potatoes, lay the out into shallow boxes or trays and store in a cool area away from frost.
- Two weeks before you plant your potatoes, move them into a light area which is around 10 degrees Celsius so that a strong sprout is produced. The potatoes can turn green when exposed to light but this is normal.
- Plant the seed potatoes in drills that are around 70cm apart in each row. The potatoes should be planted 30-35cm apart from each other.
- Make sure the eyes are facing upwards and planted at a depth of 10-15cm.
- Ideal soil conditions for potatoes are sandy loam soils.
