- Sow directly outdoors from April–June in a well‑prepared seedbed.
- Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of well-prepared, moist soil and lightly cover.
- Keep the soil consistently moist until seedlings emerge.
- Seeds will usually germinate within 14-28 days.
- Once seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them to about 20-30 cm apart.
- Water regularly during dry spells until established, but avoid waterlogging.
- Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued flowering and prolong the season.
- Leave some seed heads if you want natural self-seeding for the following season.
- Sow September-November under cloches for earlier flowering the next year.
