Mustard Tatsoi Red F1. Suitable for both baby leaf and whole head. Mature plants have a semi upright habit and exhibit a rosette of rounded, savoyed, purple green leaves on slender, light green stalks. It can be harvested anytime during growth, young leaves are especially delicious with a mild mustard flavour and good crunchy texture. Matures in only 45-50 days and withstands temperatures as low as -10’C (15’F).
Cultivation Advice Mustard Tatsoi Red F1
- Sow from late spring to early autumn. Optimum germination temp 18c.
- Can be sown undercover in plugs for earliest harvest.
- Sow finely in seeds every 2-3 weeks for a continuous harvest.
- Space the initial planting very densely, then harvest entire plants, leaving the strongest to grow to maturity at about 25cm (12in) spacing.
- Sow very close together for baby leaf production.
- Germination takes 5-15 days dependent on soil temperature.
- Tatsoi needs a rich soil and plenty of moisture all through the growing season. Although they do better in cool weather, Tatsoi is one of the last to bolt during hotter periods.
- Harvest from 21-28 days for baby-leaf & 45-50 days to maturity.
