JIFFY 7C PEAT FREE PELLETS 35mm

£5.49£57.99

Jiffy Peat-Free Pellets offer an eco-friendly alternative to traditional peat pellets, made entirely from renewable, biodegradable coir (coconut fibre). Supplied as dried, compressed pellets, they expand when rehydrated to provide an ideal environment for seed germination and root growth. Each pellet is encased in fine netting to retain shape and allow for easy, mess-free transplanting with minimal root disturbance. Perfect for use in seed trays, propagators, or greenhouse settings, and suitable for vegetables, herbs, and flowers – without the use of peat. By using peat-free alternatives, gardeners can reduce environmental impact and support healthier ecosystems.

How To Use

  • Place dry pellets in a tray with the indented side facing up.
  • Soak the pellets with warm water for 5-10 minutes and watch them expand fully.
  • Drain/squeeze any excess water from the pellets to prevent water logging and to introduce air.
  • Sow 1-2 seeds in the whole of each pellet at the appropriate depth for the variety, cover, and then propagate.
  • Keep pellets moist, but not soggy during germination.
  • When roots are well-developed, transplant the whole pellet – no need to remove netting.

Jiffy 7C Peat Free Pellets – Recommended Uses

Suitable for medium-sized seeds such as tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. It is also effective for larger herb plants like dill or parsley.

This size provides enough room for root expansion while still being manageable in terms of planting density.

Jiffy 7C Peat Free Pellets – Benefits

Peat-Free Composition: These pellets contribute to sustainability efforts by reducing reliance on peat extraction, which can be harmful to ecosystems.
Excellent Aeration and Drainage: The coir substrate offers superior aeration and drainage properties.
Reduced root Disturbance: When seedlings are ready for transplanting, there is minimal root disturbance since the pellets can be planted directly into large pots or garden beds.
Quick Rehydration: The pellets are designed with a specially formulated wetting agent that allows them to rehydrate quickly if they become dry.
Convenient Storage: Supplied in a compressed form, these pellets require less storage space compared to lose substrates.
Reduced Transplant Shock: These pellets are designed to minimise root which significantly reduces transplant shock for seedlings, leading to better survival rates and healthier plants.
Balanced Nutrient Supply: These pellets come with a specially formulated base fertiliser that provides optimal nutrition without the need for immediate additional fertilisation.
