Amaryllis Carmen

Amaryllis ‘Carmen’ is a stunning indoor forcing bulb featuring large, trumpet-shaped flowers in a rich deep red hue. Perfect for Christmas displays, it typically blooms 6–8 weeks after planting and grows to around 60-70cm tall. Remember to cut the stem after the first flowering to encourage the bulb to flower again. Tall amaryllis varieties like Carmen need to be supported with a stick or plant support as they grow, to prevent the thick stems from bending under the weight of the flower.

Plant from October onwards, throughout winter
For Christmas blooms, plant by October
Use a pot with drainage holes which is around 10-15cm deep
Place the bulbs with half of the bulb just above the compost surface
Water only if the compost dries out
Avoid placing near direct heat sourced to extend flowering

Mature Height: 45-60cm
Mature Spread: 20-30cm
Planting Depth: Half the bulb planted (so it is still exposed)
Light: Full sun or partial shade
Flowering Time: 6-8 weeks after sowing
