Tomato – Big Mama F1
This variety is the new standard in home-grown paste tomatoes. These exceptional fruits are plum-shaped, incredibly meaty, and enormous?up to 8 cm long and 4 cm across. Skin peels away easily after par-boiling, which means less fuss, less mess and more delicious, thick, creamy sauce. Plants will reach 2.3 – 2.8m in height with fruits 230-280 Gram.
Cultivation advice Tomato – Big Mama F1
- Due to its size it is best grown under glass in the UK allowing it a longer period to fully ripen.  Due to its size it will need slightly greater spacing between plants.
- Sow in early spring 1/16 inch deep. Germination takes around 6-14 days at 65-75F.
- Transplant the seedlings when large enough to handle into 3 inch pots. Grow on under cooler conditions and when about 8 inches tall,  position in the greenhouse  and plant out 24-36 inches apart.
- Provide support and tie in regularly. Remove side shoots and restrict the plant to one main stem. In late summer remove the growing tip to hasten ripening.
