- Parsnips prefer deep, stone-free soil enriched with well-rotted manure for a previous crop.
- Sow seeds directly outdoors from April to June, 1-2 cm deep, in rows spaced 30cm apart.
- Germination is weather-dependent and can take up to 3 weeks. If little emerges, re-sow immediately.
- Thin seedlings to 15cm apart when large enough, thinnings don’t transplant well.
- Roots are ready to harvest when the tops begin to die down.
- Harvest as required, roots will remain in the ground until late winter unless the soil becomes heavily waterlogged.
