Hyacinth Fragrant Sea Mixed offers a delightful blend of fragrant hyacinths in a stunning combination of white and blue shades, creating a visually appealing display reminiscent of sea breezes. These hardy plants are designed to bloom throughout March and April, providing an impressive flowering period of approximately six weeks. These are great in pots, borders or indoors.

Caution: Hyacinth bulbs can irritate the skin and eyes and are toxic if ingested.

Hyacinth Fragrant Sea Mix – Cultivation Advice

Growing instructions – Indoors

  1. Place the bulbs somewhere cool for 6-10 weeks before planting
  2. Place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards.
  3. Gently cover the bulb but leave the top visible (around 1cm).
  4. Cover the pots and store them in a cool, dark location for 6-10 weeks (below 7c).
  5. Once shoots appear, move the pot to a bright location with indirect sunlight.
  6. Water as needed but don’t let the soil become soggy.

 

Growing instructions – Outside

  1. Plant between October-November, before the ground freezes.
  2. Loosen the soil to a depth of around 30cm and mix in organic matter to improve the drainage and soil quality.
  3. Use a hand trowel or bulb planter and dig a hole which is three times the depth of the bulb.
  4. Place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards.
  5. Gently cover the bulb and lightly compress the soil.

Hyacinth Fragrant Sea Mix – Tips

• Choose a location that receives full sun, ideally at least six hours of direct sunlight daily. This helps produce larger bulbs.
• After flowering, deadhead spent blooms to redirect energy back into the bulb and allow foliage to die back naturally before removing it to help replenish nutrients for next year’s growth.
• If you have heavy soil, incorporate some perlite or sand before planting to aid drainage.
