Cultivation advice Helipterum Roseum Giant Flower Mix
- Sow late winter to mid spring at 24 C (75 F) in a fine seed compost on the surface and gently firm down.
- Light aids germination, and enclosing in a polythene bag will help retain moisture during germination.
- Germinates in around 7-15 days.
- When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and gradually acclimatise to outside conditions planting out after the last frost 8-10 in apart in full sun.
- Alternatively if space permits sow directly into the ground into rows 45 cm apart in late spring.
- Thin the seedlings out to around 10 cm apart. The plants are usually sturdy enough to support themselves.
- Pick when foliage is quite dry and the flowers are well open, tie in small bunches and hang upside down in a dry, well ventilated place until dry.
