- Sow seeds indoors between April and May.
- Sow seeds vertically, 1 cm deep, in individual small pots (7.5cm pots).
- Place the pots in a propagator set to a constant 19-22c. Maintaining a steady temperature is essential until germination.
- Keep the compost consistently moist. Seeds should germinate within 5-10 days.
- Once seedlings develop 2-3 true leaves, transplant them into larger pots, around 2 litres in size (approximately 12-15cm diameter).
- Harden plants off gradually by placing them outdoors during the day and bringing them inside overnight for 4-5 days.
- Transplant outdoors from mid-May, once all risk of frost has passed.
- Feed every 14 days with a potash-rich fertiliser to encourage flowering and fruiting.
- Water regularly, keeping the soil moist, but avoid getting the developing fruit wet.
- Harvest regularly once the fruit reach around 15cm long to prolong cropping.
