Growing Instructions
- Loosen and remove any rocks from the soil.
- Avoid freshly-manured soil as this can produce hairy, rough roots and will cause forks and splits.
- Directly sow the seeds outside on moist soil, when the temperature is 12c+.
- Lightly cover the seeds and water as necessary. Germination should occur between 10-20 days.
- Around 1 week after the seedlings have germinated, thin them to 3-5cm apart
- As the seedlings grow, eventually thin them to 10cm.
- Dispose of thinned seedlings to avoid attracting carrot fly.
- Regularly weed and water the area.
- Put soil around the tops to prevent green crowns.
- If carrot fly is an issue then with a fleece or fine netting.
