- Sow seeds from March to May under cover in well-drained seed compost.
- Gently press seeds into the surface of the compost – don’t cover, as light is essential for germination.
- Keep the compost at around 20c and germination usually occurs within 15-30 days.
- When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into 7.5 cm pots.
- Gradually acclimatise seedlings to outdoor conditions before planting out.
- Space plants approximately 20cm apart in a sunny or partially shaded, well-drained position.
- With an early sowing, Platycodon can flower in its first year.
Platycodon (Balloon Flower) Mix produces blooms in shades of blue, white, and pink. Known for their distinctive balloon-shaped buds that open into star-shaped flowers, they flower from mid to late summer, adding long-lasting colour to borders, beds, and containers.
