Cultivation advice: Aquilegia Columbine William Guinness
- Sow under cover from 4-8 weeks before the last frost through to July. Germination will take place within 2 – 6 weeks if you cover the seeds lightly with vermiculite. Ensure a temperature of 15 to 20 °C.
- Transplant the seedlings and grow on. Gradually acclimatise them to the outdoor conditions.
- If you sow seeds late you can over-winter them under glass or under cover.
- Will readily re-seed itself and you can sow them directly in borders or in wild/natural grass areas.
- Only feed if the soil is exceptionally poor.
- The flowers should not need staking, but an overfed plant will flop.
