Herb Fennel Bronze
Herb Fennel Bronze. An attractive perennial herb (not to be confused with sweet or Florence fennel, an annual vegetable grown for its swollen bulbs) grows to 2m and can be planted in a decorative border or as a herb. The wispy aniseed flavoured leaves, similar to Dill are utilised with soups, fish, pork, sauces and salads. The tall attractive stems also carry a yellow umbel of flowers in the summer. Extremely popular with butterflies and beneficial insects.
Cultivation Advice Herb Fennel Bronze
- Sow in Mar to Mid Mayin shallow drills 18 inches apart.
- As the seedlings become large enough to handle thin them to 8 inches between each plant.
- Keep the plants well watered.
- After cutting back cover with mulch to over-winter.
