Ammi majus is like a delicate cow parsley with tiny white flowers that flutter and float gently in the wind. The tall, architectural starburst flowers and fresh, green foliage add natural elegance to the garden. I pick it for clouds of white for a wedding or add it to soft, pastel arrangements for a light, airy look. It’s a must-have for every flower grower.

For masses of flowers that are super-easy to grow from seed, choose Cornflower ‘Classic Romantic’. Cornflowers are the pretty, early summer cottage garden flower which everyone loves. The Classic Romantic mix has a soft vintage rose feel with pink and white single and double flowers. Lovely arranged in a colourful jumble in jugs, or have fun with the resilient stems, making cornflower chains with the children to decorate the table or wear in your hair.

Hurray for this annual form of phlox! It’s quick to flower from seed-grown seedlings and can be used in the border like a bedding plant, in pots and in the cutting garden The plants bush out as they grow and produce clusters of lovely flowers. ‘Blushing Bride’ is a pretty, scented pink and white variety, mix it with other phlox for a profusion of loveliness.

What could be more perfect than pansies reminiscent of sweet peas? This Pansy ‘Sweet Pea Mix’ mimics the shape and colour of sweet peas – lilacs, dusky pink, creams, and custard, with pretty petals that flick out like a flouncy skirt. Pick them for bud vases or to decorate puddings and cakes.
