Herb Sorrel Red Veined. A colourful salad green producing a distinctive lemony slightly tart flavour which perfectly complements salads. Very distinctive with a central radiating maroon – red vein, attractive both in the veg patch and on the plate.
Cultivation Advice Herb Sorrel Red Veined
- Sow outdoors from Mar – Sep thinly in drills on well prepared fine well drained soil.
- Protect early sowings with a cloche in exposed areas or cold spring.
- Â Allow 30 cm between rows.
- Germinates in 14-21 days. (30-60 days to harvest)
- Keep moist during dry periods to avoid the young plants going to seed.
- Harvest young outer leaves progressively, a few from each plant as they mature.
- Best harvested young as leaves can get tough when mature
