- Start the seeds indoors from February-April.
- Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of moist seed compost and gently press in.
- Don’t cover as light aids germination.
- Keep at a temperature of 18-21c until germination occurs.
- Seeds will usually germinate within 7–21 days.
- Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots.
- Grow on in bright light and cooler conditions, keeping the compost just moist.
- Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
- Plant out after the risk of frost has passed into their final flowering position.
- Choose a sunny, well-drained site for best growth and flowering.
- Space plants about 25-30 cm apart to allow room for development.
- Water regularly during dry spells until established, but avoid waterlogging.
- Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming throughout the season.
- Cut the flowers to extend the flowering period.
