- Start the seeds indoors from January-May or August-December.
- Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of moist, seed compost and lightly cover.
- Keep at a temperature of 120-24cc until germination occurs.
- Seeds will usually germinate within 7-14 days.
- Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots.
- Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
- Plant out after the risk of frost has passed into their final flowering position.
- Space plants about 30-40 cm apart in borders or beds.
- Water regularly during dry spells until established, but avoid waterlogging.
- Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming throughout the season.
- Cut back old foliage in early spring to maintain tidy clumps and encourage fresh growth.
