  1. Prepare the ground before planting
  2. Choose a sunny location with at least 6–8 hours of sunlight daily.
  3. Prepare the soil by removing weeds and digging in plenty of well-rotted manure.
  4. Space plants 200cm apart, with 200cm between rows.
  5. Dig a hole large enough to spread the roots.
  6. plant the cane with the crown 5 cm below the soil surface, and firm the soil around the roots.
  7. Water thoroughly and add a mulch layer to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  8. Support the canes on a trellis or wires as they grow.
  9. In February or March, cut back any dead or wayward shoots.
  10. Refresh mulch each spring around March.
