Cultivation Advice

  1. Plant between March-September in a consistently wet position.
  2. Choose a spot in full sun or partial shade.
  3. Watercress grows best in reliably moist, boggy soil or shallow water.
  4. If planting in the ground, choose a damp area where the soil will not dry out.
  5. Alternatively, plant in a pot and stand the pot in a tray of water.
  6. Watercress can also be planted in an aquatic basket and placed at the edge of a pond, with the crown just above the water or in very shallow water.
  7. Keep the soil or compost constantly wet throughout the growing season.
  8. Don’t allow the plant to dry out.
  9. Harvest regularly once established by cutting the young leafy stems.
  10. Regular harvesting encourages fresh new growth.
