Cultivation Advice
- Plant between March-September in a consistently wet position.
- Choose a spot in full sun or partial shade.
- Watercress grows best in reliably moist, boggy soil or shallow water.
- If planting in the ground, choose a damp area where the soil will not dry out.
- Alternatively, plant in a pot and stand the pot in a tray of water.
- Watercress can also be planted in an aquatic basket and placed at the edge of a pond, with the crown just above the water or in very shallow water.
- Keep the soil or compost constantly wet throughout the growing season.
- Don’t allow the plant to dry out.
- Harvest regularly once established by cutting the young leafy stems.
- Regular harvesting encourages fresh new growth.
