- Choose a spot in full sun (or partial shade) with moist, well‑drained soil.
- Remove all weeds and dig in plenty of well‑rotted manure before planting.
- Soak roots for up to 1 hour before planting.
- Plant approximately 150cm apart and at a depth of 5cm below the stems soil mark.
- Water well after planting and ensure good moisture during establishment.
- In late winter/early spring (February–March), cut back any dead or wayward shoots to keep the plant healthy.
- Apply a mulch around the base each spring to conserve moisture and suppress weeds.
