• Fill the pot with growing media and place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards.
• Cover the bulb so that only the tip is visible and lightly water the soil.
• Alternatively, plant in stone or gravel to cover the bottom half of the bulbs, then add water just below the base of the bulbs.
• Keep the bulbs in a cool dark place whilst they root (usually takes a couple of weeks).
• Once roots have developed, place them on a sunny windowsill.
• Check water levels regularly and water as needed.
• Plant from October onwards, throughout winter
• For Christmas blooms, plant by October
• Use a pot with drainage holes which is around 10-15cm deep
• Place the bulbs with half of the bulb just above the compost surface
• Water only if the compost dries out
• Avoid placing near direct heat sourced to extend flowering
Growing instructions – Indoors
• Place the bulbs somewhere cool for 6-10 weeks before planting
• Place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards.
• Gently cover the bulb but leave the top visible (around 1cm).
• Cover the pots and store them in a cool, dark location for 6-10 weeks (below 7c).
• Once shoots appear, move the pot to a bright location with indirect sunlight.
• Water as needed but don’t let the soil become soggy.
Growing instructions – Outside
• Plant between October-November, before the ground freezes.
• Loosen the soil to a depth of around 30cm and mix in organic matter to improve the drainage and soil quality.
• Use a hand trowel or bulb planter and dig a hole which is three times the depth of the bulb.
• Place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards.
• Gently cover the bulb and lightly compress the soil.
