An heirloom French variety considered as the original Mange Tout Pea, producing truly enormous thin, flat and wide 5 In. pods that are extremely sweet and very tender. Additionally the plants and flowers are one of the most attractive of any of the pea varieties allowing them to be included in ornamental planting. The 5 ft. large plants will need support and the pods are best with only the minimal level of cooking. Best harvested when the peas are barely showing.

Cultivation Advice

Pea Mange Touts Carouby De Muasanne – Growing Instructions

Start the seeds indoors, in deep pots or root trainers.
Sow the seeds at a depth of 40-50mm and place them at a temperature of 13-18c.
Germination should occur between 7-10 days.
Gradually acclimatise the seedlings once two sets of true leaves have been developed.
Alternatively, directly sow outdoors in drills between March-June.
As the seedlings grow, thin them to 60cm apart.
Regularly weed and water the area as needed.
The stem may require some support.
Harvest when the pods begin to swell.
To promote continued cropping, be sure to harvest regularly.
