- Sow indoors from March–April on the surface of moist, well-drained seed compost.
- Don’t cover, as seeds need light to germinate.
- Maintain a temperature of 18-21c. Germination typically takes 10-20 days.
- When seedlings are large enough to handle, prick out and transplant into individual 8cm pots.
- Grow on in bright light and cooler conditions, keeping compost moist but never waterlogged.
- Harden off gradually before planting outdoors once all risk of frost has passed.
- Plant out in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade, spacing plants 40cm apart.
- Water regularly during dry periods to encourage strong, continuous flowering.
- Deadhead spent blooms to prolong the flowering season.
