- Choose a pot or container with drainage holes and fill it with growing media.Â
- Place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards.Â
- Cover so that only the tip is visible above the surface.Â
- Lightly water the growing media after planting.Â
- Alternatively, plant the bulbs in stones or gravel, covering the bottom half of the bulbs.Â
- Add water until it sits just below the base of the bulbs. The bulbs should not be sitting directly in water.Â
- Keep the bulbs in a cool, dark place while they root, which usually takes a couple of weeks.Â
- Once roots have developed and shoots start to appear, move to a bright, sunny windowsill.Â
- Check water levels regularly and top up as needed.Â
- Turn the pot regularly as the shoots grow to help keep the stems straight.Â
