Swiss Chard Rhubarb Red – Growing Instructions

  1. Optional – Soak the seed for 4 hours in room temperature water.
  2. Sow the seeds directly onto a moistened growing medium, which is 3-5cm deep.
  3. Cover the seeds with growing medium and lightly mist the seeds with water.
  4. Place the seeded tray into a second tray without drainage holes. This will allow you to bottom water the tray
  5. Cover with another tray on top to stop light getting in. Then place a weight inside to encourage the roots to grow down and to help the seeds make good contact with the growing medium.
  6. Leave the seeds undisturbed for 4-5 days, there should be enough moisture in the tray for the seedlings. If not, then lightly mist the seeds.
  7. The seeds should be above 2cm tall and ready to be placed in a well-lit location for 8-16 days.
  8. When watering the seedlings, keep using the bottom tray.
  9. Harvest when the seedlings are 5cm tall. Cut the stems above the soil line with a knife or scissors.
