- Sow seeds in mid-March to mid-April in modules or trays undercover.
- Sow 1cm deep in moist seed compost and lightly cover.
- Keep soil moist and the seeds should germinate in 10-14 days.
- Pot on seedlings once large enough to handle, maintaining bright, cool conditions.
- Transplant outdoors from May to June, spacing plants 10–15 cm apart in rows 30 cm apart.
- Harvest from August-December when stems are thick, tender, and fully developed.
