- Sow seeds from May to August in modules or trays undercover.
- Sow 0.5–1 cm deep in moist seed compost and lightly cover.
- Water as needed and the seeds should germinate in 7-14 days.
- Kale germinates best in cool or warm soil temperatures with even moisture.
- Pot on seedlings once large enough to handle, maintaining bright, cool conditions.
- Enrich the soil with compost or well-rotted manure.
- Transplant outdoors from June to September, spacing plants 30-40 cm apart.
- Harvest from July to April by picking outer leaves or whole plants as required.
