- Soak your bare-roots in water for 4-5 hours before you plant them
- Pot them up into 1L or 2L pots depending on root size in a good multipurpose compost.
- If the root has an obvious crown position this just below the soil surface.
- If the roots are long and thin, these should be laid out lengthways on the soil and covered with 2cm of soil.
- Place the pot somewhere outside in a sheltered position. Keep an eye on them and check for slugs and snails as they grow.
- Once there is a good amount of growth, you can plant them in their final position in the border.
TIPS: Watch out for slugs with hostas, they love to eat their juicy leaves!
