- Start the seeds indoors from February-April.
- Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of moist seed compost and don’t cover.
- Keep at a cool temperature of 10-15c until germination occurs.
- Seeds will usually germinate within 10-14 days.
- Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into 8cm pots and grow on.
- Grow on in bright light, keeping the compost just moist.
- Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
- Plant out after the risk of frost has passed into their final flowering position.
- Alternatively, sow directly outdoors in late spring once the danger of frost has passed.
- Space plants about 25-30cm apart.
- Water regularly during dry spells until established, but avoid waterlogging.
- Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming throughout the season.
