- Start the seeds indoors from March-May.
- Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of moist, well-drained seed compost and lightly cover.
- Keep at a temperature of 18-20c until germination occurs.
- Seeds will usually germinate within 14-21 days.
- Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into clumps in a 1 l pot with good drainage.
- Grow on in bright light, keeping the compost just moist.
- Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
- Plant out after the risk of frost has passed into a sunny, well-drained site.
- Space plants about 20-25 cm apart.
- Water moderately until established, but avoid waterlogging.
- Cut back old foliage in early spring to maintain a neat, compact clump and encourage fresh growth.
