Allium ‘Purple Sensation’ is a popular ornamental variety which is valued for its bold, vibrant colour and uniform growth habit. It produces spherical flower heads made up of over 50 star-shaped violet blooms, held above upright green foliage on strong stems.
This variety typically reaches a height of 70–90 cm and is most effective when planted in groups. It is fully hardy, returning reliably year on year and flowers in late spring to early summer making it suitable for borders, mixed plantings, and as a cut flower. This variety has won an Award of Garden Merit (AGM) for its reliability and good performance under UK growing conditions.
