  1. Prepare the ground before planting.
  2. Soak roots in water for 1-3 hours before planting to rehydrate them.
  3. Choose a sunny location with at least 6-8 hours of sunlight daily.
  4. Prepare the soil by removing weeds and digging in plenty of well-rotted manure.
  5. Space plants 300cm apart.
  6. Dig a hole large enough to spread the roots.
  7. plant the cane with the crown 5cm below the soil surface, and firm the soil around the roots.
  8. Water thoroughly and add a mulch layer to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  9. Support the canes on a trellis or wires as they grow.
  10. In February or March, cut back any dead or wayward shoots.
  11. Refresh mulch each spring around March.
