  1. Plant between September-November, before the ground freezes.
  2. Use a hand trowel or bulb planter and dig a hole around 2–3 times the depth of the bulb.
  3. If the soil is heavy, loosen it to a depth of around 15cm.
  4. Mix in organic matter to improve drainage and soil quality.
  5. Add a handful of grit or coarse sand to the planting hole to aid drainage.
  6. Place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards.
  7. Space the bulbs 10-15 cm apart.
  8. Gently cover the bulb and lightly compress the soil.
  9. If the soil is very dry, water lightly after planting.
  10. Don’t water again until spring unless the weather is warm and dry.

Caution: Hyacinth bulbs can irritate the skin and eyes and are toxic if ingested.
