- Plant between September-November, before the ground freezes. Â
- Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with well-drained soil. Â
- If the soil is heavy, loosen it to a depth of around 10-15cm. Â
- Mix in organic matter to improve drainage and soil quality. Â
- Add a handful of grit or coarse sand to the planting hole to aid drainage. Â
- Use a hand trowel or bulb planter and dig a hole around 10cm deep (approximately 2-3 times the depth of the bulb).Â
- Place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards. Â
- Space the bulbs 10-15cm apart. Â
- Gently cover the bulb and lightly compress the soil. Â
- If the soil is very dry, water lightly after planting. Â
- Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering. Â
- Leave the bulbs undisturbed to naturalise and multiply.Â
