WILLOW CROSSLEY

AMMI MAJUS

£3.50

5 in stock

Ammi majus is like a delicate cow parsley with elegant, tiny white flowers that flutter and float gently in the wind. It’s a must-have for every flower grower.

How to Grow

Sowing and Growing

  1. Sow indoors (18-20C) in seed trays from February to March
  2. Sprinkle seed evenly and thinly on moist compost
  3. Once the seedlings are between 3-5cm tall transplant them into individual pots and plant out from March
  4. Or you can direct sow from March to May in drills in well raked soil at a depth of 2cm. Sow as finely as you can, a tiny pinch at a time
  5. Thin seedlings to 30 cm apart.

Ammi majus is low maintenance but remember to water your seedlings regularly. Keep picking the flowers throughout the summer to encourage the plant to produce more. The delicate stems will need staking if grown on an exposed site.

You can also sow the seed in autumn to overwinter and produce taller plants the following year. If you allow it to set seed at the end of the flowering season, ammi will self-sow.

Arranging

Ammi provides a lovely airy back drop for roses or cosmos, or arrange it en masse for clouds of tiny white flowers. Arrange with whites, greens or delicate pinks for the best effect.
