Overwintering Dahlia Tubers:
Protect your dahlias from frost over winter. After the first frost you can choose to either leave the tubers in the ground or dig them up and store them in a frost-free place. You can leave them in the ground if you live in a mild region or have light, free-draining soil. It is a risk as repeated hard frosts can lead to some losses. Cut down the stems and cover with mulch or homemade compost.
