Verbena Bonariensis ‘Vanity’ is an award-winning variety bred for its compact habit and prolific flowering. It produces masses of rich purple blooms held on strong, airy stems that attract butterflies and pollinators from summer through to autumn. Unlike traditional Verbena, this variety stays neat and well-branched, making it perfect for borders, containers, and smaller garden spaces.

  1. Sow the seeds on the surface of moist compost and lightly cover with vermiculite.
  2. Place in a warm area at a constant temperature of 22c.
  3. Germination is improved when the night temperature is dropped to 15-18c.
  4. The seeds will germinate in 14-28 days but can be erratic.
  5. If the seeds haven’t germinated, keep at a temperature of 10c for one week before putting it back to 22c.
  6. Once the seedlings are 5-7cm, transplant into individual pots.
  7. Gradually acclimatise the plants to cooler conditions.
  8. Plant out once the risk of frost has passed in their final position, 60cm apart.
