Herb Purslane Golden

Herb Purslane Golden is a fast-growing annual with thick, fleshy, oval leaves which can be used raw in salads, sautéed as a side dish or cooked like spinach. The tangy leaves make a very nice contrast in texture and taste to other salad leaves.

Available in both green and golden forms, the flavour is very similar. However, the golden form is considered slightly more succulent.

  • Sow from Mar- Aug at 20C.  For early sowing a heated propagator is best.
  • Can be sown directly outdoors from early summer.
  • Transplant into their growing position when large enough to handle, spacing 10cm.
  • Best grown in well drained position in full sun.
  • Plants will tolerate dry conditions, however best succulent leaves are produced with regular watering.
