- Start the seeds indoors between March-April.
- Fill small pots or trays with moist, free‑draining seed compost.
- Press the seeds lightly onto the surface. Don’t exclude light as it aids germination.
- Keep at around 17-19c in a bright spot.
- Germination usually takes 10-14 days.
- When large enough to handle, transplant into individual pots.
- Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions.
- Plant out after the last frost in a sunny, well‑drained place with about 30cm between plants.
- Remove spent flowers to encourage more blooms.
Stocks Night Scented (Matthiola bicornis) is an annual producing fragrant, purple flowers. Blooming in the evening, its scent attracts pollinators and its compact habit is ideal for containers, hanging baskkets or in borders.
