- Sow seeds indoors from November to February.
- Surface sow onto fine, well-drained seed compost and cover with approximately 10mm of vermiculite.
- Maintain a temperature of around 20c for best germination. Seeds usually emerge within 10-20 days.
- Once seedlings appear, grow on at a cooler temperature of about 15c in a bright position.
- When large enough to handle, prick out into individual pots.
- Harden off carefully and plant outdoors after the risk of frost has passed.
- Space plants 30cm apart in a sunny, well-drained position.
- Provide suitable support such as a trellis, arch, or fence for the plants to climb.
Thunbergia alata Mix is a fast-growing climber that produces an abundance of open-faced flowers in shades of orange, yellow, and cream with a distinctive dark centre. Flowering from summer into autumn, it quickly covers trellises, fences, and arches, creating a vibrant display.
